The Instagram Algorithm Low Down

It’s such a double-edged sword isn’t it lately? It’s an amazing way to inspire, connect and engage with your tribe, but with the algorithm changes that have hit, to put it simply, you see a whole lot less of that.
The new formula that the Instagram scientists have concocted can scare even the most seasoned business owner away. That’s why today, I want to cover what you can do to fight back and make Instagram great again.
Let’s dive right into it, shall we?
The new algorithm favors engagement — yep, the exact thing it (seemingly) has been taking away from us.
That’s why it’s more important than ever to encourage the people who are seeing your posts to get involved in your content.
Some ways to make that happen?
Instagram Stories are huge and many users admit to watching Stories more often than strolling through their feed. Make it a point to check in with your community on there daily — share biz tips, life musings, thoughts, inspiring or funny quotes, whatever speaks to you. This is an amazing way to get personal with your audience. Don’t forget to respond to DM’s either! This helps majorly.
Make the Poll Feature Your Friend
Show of hands — who has used the poll feature that Instagram Stories offer? If your hand wasn’t raised, you’ll want to scurry on over and create one. The best part is, you can use it light-heartedly (what was really the better teen drama: Dawson’s Creek or the OC?) and it’s still just as effective. Instagram just wants to see people interacting!
Share Value + Ask Questions
As always, it’s vital that you share value and don’t just post to social media for the sake of posting. Ask yourself, “What does your audience need today? What can they benefit from? How can I help?” and deliver, Savvy lady. And if you don’t know? Ask them. This will help open up the Insta-dialogue and increase post awareness.
A bonus tip? Respond to comments as quickly as possible and ask questions in your response so they’re prompted to reply again. The more back + forth the better in Instagram’s eyes.
